Josephine Mead

Josephine Mead is a visual artist, writer, curator and the Program Coordinator and Visual Arts Curator at Gasworks Creative Precinct.
Based in Naarm, she works through photography, sculpture, installation and writing to explore personal notions of support. She has exhibited and been published widely and has undertaken residency programs in regional Victoria, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Mexico and Portugal.
She was recently a HOT DESK Fellow through the Wheeler Centre, a Boyd Residency artist through City of Melbourne and co-founded Co- Publishing. She received Creative Australia and Creative Victoria funding to produce her most recent work, ‘MOTHER-SONG’ which debuted at the ESC Biennale in Manila in 2025. She is currently writing a memoir, titled ‘(M)Other is an Opera!’ that will be turned into a piece of theatre.
